God Is Inviting You to the Secret Place

He shall call on Me, and I will answer Him; I will be with Him in trouble; I will deliver Him, and honor Him.

With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:15-16 MKJV).

Introduction

God has invited you to come to the secret place to spend time with Him. Time spent with Him in prayer or fellowship is worth it. Prayer releases transforming power. This lesson is mainly directed to you as an individual believer. "But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly." (Matthew 6:6).

In this lesson, we shall look at the requirements for entering the secret place with the Lord:

1. Have the right motive

"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward." (Matthew 6:5).

When you approach the presence of the Lord, ensure that your motives are good. Jesus said the hypocrites love to pray. But their purpose is to be seen and heard by people. That is why they used to stand in strategic places. The Lord said by so doing, they received their reward.

You are, therefore, encouraged to go to enter your room and close the door. God, your Father hears and sees in secret, and He then rewards openly. So, ensure that the motive for prayer is right. God rewards those who pray with pure motives.

May God grant the desires of your heart as you pray in the secret plan, in Jesus Name!

2. Have a right relationship with God as your Father

"For what father of you, if the son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake for a fish? Or if he shall ask for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" (Luke 11:11-13).

You serve a great loving God who is a Father to us. Go to Him as a child goes to a loving father. The principle here is that a father gives good gifts to his children when they ask. God wants you to be happy. So, if you ask something from Him, he will grant your request. He is better than the earthly fathers who also give good gifts to their children.

God, your Father wants to give good things to you. Allow Him, therefore, to be a father to you. Humble yourself and approach Him as a child approaches his father. God gives only good gifts. If some thing bad happens to you, never say God has given it to you. He gives only good gifts. He is a loving Father. If you had a bad experience with your earthly father, never likens your father to God.
